Little Experimenteers

Little Experimenteers
Our Name...
Wait, that's not a real word?...

I couldn't find an existing word that captured the ethos I wanted to convey, so I made one up.
(Which is actually an apt reflection of the ethos).

Raising children is important, meaningful and full of uncertainty. The world we live in now is not the world we grew up in. There is a lot of helpful but conflicting information and advice out there about "The best way to do things". Raising children with delays or disability adds another layer of complexity, uncertainty and unpredictability, which can be overwhelming.
-
"What is the best option for my child?"
-
"How do I give them the best shot at life, relative to their interests, abilities and challenges?"
-
"How do I give them the best opportunities to grow?"
Strategies that work for one child or family might not work for another - because different people need different things. Sometimes the solution already exists and sometimes we're innovating from an informed foundation. Navigating new territory can be stressful and scary; It can also be joyful, fun, and awe-inspiring. It can even be all of these things at the same time.

I wanted little Experimenteers to communicate:
-
A sense of playfulness, curiosity, and exploration
-
An underlying foundation of Evidence-based Practice
(i.e. Using good Frameworks, Research-backed strategies, and Best-practice guidelines.).
-
Discovery of "The Answers" together through Problem-solving, Collaboration, and Coaching.
(i.e. We bring knowledge, skills, and experience on supporting child development, disability and families; You bring knowledge and experience on your child, family, values, and what's actually plausible to implement within your context. And together we work towards the best outcomes and reach your goals.
-
Honouring & celebrating Diversity
Cultural diversity, Neurodiversity, diversity of values, diversity of approaches and "ways of doing things". Supporting a wide range of children and families with different abilities and challenges, from various backgrounds and all walks of life.
-
Community Building, Connection, & Collaboration
We can achieve incredible things when we play to our strengths and work together. We want to help build strong, loving families, and thriving, connected communities.

-
Adaptability & Simplicity
Finding healthy ways to make things easier, simpler, and more enjoyable without compromising important values.

-
Sustainability and empowerment
We would love the good work we do to have positive ripple effects into the broader community, and enable transformations that last lifetimes. (Dream big, right? :)).
-
Positive Approach to Risk
...with risk analysis and mitigation as the first two steps.
We can avoid taking risks. :) But sometimes (especially when trying new or interesting things) risks are inherent in the process. We aim to empower kids and families to take risks and conquer new ground as safely as possible.
...

Why?...
In short:
People are important. Children are important.
Family is important. Early intervention is important.

Early intervention changes the trajectories of peoples lives.
It's preventative. It can set people up for success or hardship through the knock-on effects it has for the rest of their lives. Every positive step early on has much greater impacts over time. Supporting children and families to thrive has both short-term benefits, and compounding long-term positive effects on the individuals and society as a whole. At Little Experimenteers, we believe it's incredibly meaningful and valuable to enable that for everyone. We strive to enable families to confidently, lovingly, and joyfully navigate the first few years of life to set strong foundations for good mental, physical, emotional, social healthy and wellbeing. Building, kind, loving, resilient, capable, healthy families.
